My Favorite Memory
I have the cutest little memory to share from April 17th.
I wake up every workday morning at 5:15, feed Benny, heat up some coffee, and make myself a waffle with peanut butter. Bobby is gone because he goes to the gym like a crazy person at 5am.
This sunny April morning, I called Benny up into bed to snuggle with me for a few minutes after my alarm went off. Then, I felt my phone vibrate again. I saw a reminder message, “Get Starbucks from the microwave.” Seriously guys… my heart sang. You would have thought I was just proposed to if you saw my face. I was over the moon with joy. Not because I love coffee (which I do!!), but because of this tiny gesture of love bundled in a plastic cup.
That morning, I came to find that my husband woke up at 4:45am. He drove to Starbucks, put it in the microwave for me, and THEN went to the gym. He went completely out of his way for a simple cup of coffee. If that is not love, I do not know what love is! He definitely earned some brownie points with that little stunt.
Articles I Loved
As you all probably know, I am new to the blogging world and I literally had to start from scratch. I knew NOTHING. The teacher within me forced me to research an insaneeeeee amount before even beginning to write my first piece.
I know people might say, “just begin to write!” Eh, that’s not for me. I guess it is the recovering perfectionist in me, but I want to do things as right as I can right from the beginning.
Through perusing Pinterest to find some inspiration, guidance, and advice, I found hundreds of articles I read and pinned for future reference. Here are three that really helped pick things up in the beginning for me:
Jackie from Jade & Oak has amazing advice for keeping your blog legal. I had NO IDEA most of these things were even mandatory within the blogging world (seriously, that has been the LEAST fun part… making privacy statements and all that. But, I get why they need to exist. I’d like to not get sued. Thanks!).
My Top 10 Biggest Blogging Mistakes I Made in My First 3 Months of Blogging (that I need to fix now)
Eden from Eden Fried is so adorable and fun. I am part of her Facebook Group Blogger Insights, which I love! I think it is so brave that she shared mistakes from the beginning, much of which has helped me steer clear of some bumps in the road during my first month blogging.
I have’t totally mastered the whole blogging and Instagram thing. But, Rachel’s article from The Confused Millennial helped me begin to get some great ideas for what I would like to do in the future. Her tips are so so so simple and easy to copy! You should definitely check this article out if you are in the same boat as I am.
Stuffed Waffle Recipe. If you haven’t tried it yet, you seriously have to give it a try! Such a crowdpleaser!
TV Series Obsession
Any other Southern Charm lovers out there???
I mean, this show is so addictive and I wish there was an episode every day of the week. I am so intrigued by how different Long Island living is compared to down in Charleston. There is so much juicy gossip and I can never really guess what will happen next!
Music I Have Had on Repeat
Awesome Amazon Purchase
Our fur baby Benny was rescued as an adult dog (about 2 years old) July 2015. We didn’t want to deal with raising a puppy as new homeowners, but we quickly realized getting an adult dog is not cake. They come with their own behaviors and internal habits already in place, which aren’t necessarily good!
Benny turned out to be a RUNNER! He escaped three times the first week. He pushed past us if we were coming through the front door or backyard gate. Each time it would take over a half hour to catch him!
Well, it has been almost two years and he has come a LONGGG way. We can open the backyard gate and he won’t run. But, we would love him to be able to sit out front while we garden or wash our cars. Also, Bobby’s family lives upstate on over 5 acres with no fence, so it is a painnnnn when he needs to go outside on a leash every time.
So, I did some poking around on Amazon this month and I found an amazing leash to help him feel free (yet, it allows me to not have a panic attack!). It is 50 feet long, so he thinks he is walking around at his own leisure. But, I can have some peace of mind knowing I can reel in the leash when needed. If you are a dog owner, I am sure you can relate!
If you haven’t yet, you have to read The Gifts of Imperfection! It is an incredible, life changing book! Pop over to my review if you want to see if this book is for you.
