The beginning of June was so much fun! My husband, Bobby, and I made many memories the first weekend. We headed out to Montauk for a three day vacation. On Friday, we attended my gorgeous friend’s lavish wedding at Gurney’s resort. It was such a beautiful venue and everyone looked incredible! They had everyone that attended dress in white. My favorite addition was an extravagant wine bar that said, “Rose all Day!” that featured mini wine bottles from Wolffer’s Estate Vineyard.
We spent another two days in Montauk in celebration of our one year wedding anniversary. We stayed at The Surf Club. It is a cute condo complex with access to the beach, a little gym, and a beautiful updated community pool and lounge area. The condo had a mini kitchen (which we didn’t even use), a living area, and a bedroom/bath on the second floor. I highly recommend staying there! Just book at least 6 months in advance or the prices sky-rocket. We went on a leisurely hike by the lighthouse, tried out many cute restaurant spots, and drove around looking at luxury homes. Oh, how the 2% lives! Maybe one day…
In May I wrote about how I received my tenure letter! I have been teaching for four years at an amazing district I am truly proud to be a part of each year. A tenure letter invites you to attend a board meeting where a vote is taken on whether or not tenure will be granted to you. I did it! When I walk through the doors in September, I will officially be a member of my district. It feels good.
This month I wrote about the importance of celebrating awesome things you do in your life. Take my advice and knock the habit off of playing down your accomplishments! Sharing your milestones, both little and major, will open so many doors for you mentally. Just make sure you don’t come off as a one-upper, conceited person. No one likes that. I give you some tips on how to celebrate in an authentic way that will allow you to share all the feels in your life!

I am super pumped to not be working this summer for the first time since I was in middle school! I have always had some sort of nannying, restaurant, or teaching job to keep the cash flowing in through the summer months. We saved enough this year so I can spend my time working on my blog and getting some much wanted house work done. We are redoing our entire kitchen this August. Bobby and I just got through the process of choosing a contractor and we placed an order for our cabinets! They should be in at the end of July. Check back in at Life as Kait to see more posts about how the process goes! Hoping for a smooth process with minor bumps in the road.
I also had a proud homeowner’s moment. I cut the lawn for the first time BY MYSELF! Yep. It happened. My husband was in Florida for the week with his father. I wanted to surprise him by learning how to do it on my own. Since I am not working all summer, I want to take over some of his chores to make his life a bit easier. I give myself a B- for my first cut. My edges were… ehhh… a little strange looking. I kind of buzzed the front part of my house (woops!). I actually called my dad when I was done just to share my achievement! Still feel cool that I did it. Don’t judge.
Bobby turned 29 June 20th! He is such a simple person. All he wanted to do was walk the dog with me when he got home from work and eat Trader Joe’s salads with shrimp for dinner. That is what I love about him! He really does not need much to be happy. We are both in good heath, so it was another great birthday for him.
I am actually writing this post right now from Florida! I am on vacation right now with Bobby’s mama. We actually get along very well and have had a great time all week relaxing by the pool. The weather has been incredible! It has been 80 degrees every day and the humidity did not kick up much until our last two days. Cannot complain about that! The rain holds off until about 5pm each day. Also, the lightening storms we have watched have been something out of a movie.
The craziest part of our trip was our flight! It took us about 12 hours to get here and caused me to have a good amount of anxiety. I was so afraid our car rental company would be closed by the time our flight arrived. Our flight was delayed three and a half hours. We were at the airport hours before we needed to be. We should have ended up at the house around 1am. When we walked in the door, it was 4am. But, it all worked out! Life is all about perspective.
The next day, we talked about all of the awesome people we met in that 12 hour travel period. We had a sweet waitress at dinner, sat with an incredibly nice gentleman on the plane, and laughed our butts off with the Avis guy as we waited for our car. In the moment, it was hard to stay positive. But, I am working hard to learn how to change my mindset in the moment each day!
These are my fav purchases from this month!
I purchased these at Nordstrom Rack for abut $60. They are very comfortable & go with a dressy or a casual outfit! I have already received so many compliments each time I wear them.
Also, the bottoms are super flexible, so they are good to go if you wear them for a long time.
This has been the first time I have ever purchased bobby pins that were not from the drug store. SO happy I finally invested in these. They hold my fine hair so well into place with tiny grips. They are fantastic when holding your hair in place for the gym, which is where my hair always falls out.
Don’t let the price bother you! They’re 3x more expensive than regular bobby pins. But, 10x better! It also comes with a cute holder, if that is what will persuade you!
These are great to have when you are doing activities when you don’t want to wear your wedding ring. They are perfect for the gym, beach, or even yard work! I love how they are thin and look cute when stacked.
They are also very inexpensive. So, if you lose them it is NBD!
