I have always heard people chatting here and there about podcasts. But I always thought they were specifically related to educational purposes or people that love to listen to the radio. For years, I never even knew where my podcast app was on my phone. I definitely would never have guessed that I would ever listen to one on a regular basis at any point in my life.
How I Got Into Listening to Podcasts
My husband began listening to Jocko’s podcast the year. When he would work from home on Fridays, I could hear the inspirational advice he would listen to through Jocko’s YouTube channel. We would sit together at dinner and he would share stories this podcast shared that my husband could use to relate to his own struggles and milestones in life. To be honest, my husband often teases me that I will never try anything new that he suggests, so this was a moment I finally gave in to “prove him wrong”. And, that was it.
Over the next three months, I almost entirely replaced my Spotify-filled moments in my day with an inspirational podcast with one of my favorite, inspiring women. I kickstart my work days listening to a podcast while doing my hair and makeup. Usually, finishing it while driving to work. Then, I listen to another at the gym in the afternoon and while cooking dinner. Yes, I still dabble in my music here and there. But, I have been transformed with many of the simple, yet powerful, words the women I listen to present. It is hard to not continue to want to download a new podcast when they give me so much confidence and are helping me constantly grow and change myself.
My 3 Favorite Podcasts
Now… there are SO many podcasts out there that can fit any personality, life experience, and interest. But, these are the podcasts that have transformed my way of thinking as a woman:
Hands down, right now this is my favorite podcast and inspirational speaker. Her podcasts are clean, so you are safe to listen if little ones are around. Chalene has been a big force in the fitness industry and knows a lot of science behind working out and feeling good in ways that are realistic and healthy.
Even though she is over twenty years older than me, she has the ability to connect to women of almost all ages. She covers various topics, like business, health, fitness, friendships, dating, marriage, sleeping, social media, raising a family… it is endless.
For me, I love this because she keeps her podcast fresh and her ideas are always changing. It helps me continue to learn and grow in various aspects of my life, including experiences I have yet to go through (parenting, hard times in a marriage, etc).
Beyond the podcast, I highly recommend you follow Chalene on Snapchat. She is absolutely hilarious. Here are some of the podcast episodes I recommend if you are interested in seeing if Chalene is your girl!
Episode 2: Productivity Hacks
Episode 14: Too Scared to Try: How to Break Free From Perfectionism
Episode 87: How to Stop Worrying, Remove Self Doubt, & Start Living

Now, Amy’s “pod” is radically different than Chalene’s, but equally as inspiring and worth listening to. First of all, Amy rocks each episode with her husband as her sidekick and they banter back and forth. He adds content with personal experiences and questions Amy as she moves through each topic to further her thinking and content. It is clear that they don’t rehearse before, but this is why I love the pod.
The episodes are real and make you feel as if you are listening to them hang out at the dinner table at night. Amy frequently curses. I have to admit, I love the realness. I am drawn in by the fact that all of her podcast topics and ideas are focused around real experiences she has had or is currently having in her own life.. She is exactly as her pod’s name is designed around. Amy’s goal is to take crappy situations and discuss ways to find more inner peace and JOY in your life.
Personally, I like scrolling about 6-8 minutes in to where the meat and potatoes of the pod is (the beginning includes Amy and her husband chatting), but that’s because I have no patience. I highly recommend you try out the following episodes to see if Amy can help bring some joy to your life:
5-Steps to Manifesting Meaningful Relationships
How the Hell to Find “Your Joy”
4 Things You Must Know About Self-Care
What’s awesome about my second and third favorite podcasts is that Amy and Andrea are best friends. They met through the life coaching world. They are very similar in content and personality (both laugh constantly and are not serious about themselves often, which I think is fantastic).
Andrea tends to invite a lot of guests to speak on her podcast episodes and has a natural way of leading an interview while keeping it real. She is not afraid to ask tough questions that really gets the speaker to think. What’s inspiring is that she shares personal information that is sometimes difficult for people to outright reveal about themselves. Andrea has come from a difficult past and has completely transformed her life over the years. She makes a girl realize that bumps and mountains will exist in life, but you can always manifest what you want.
When I am having a really hard day, I can easily re-listen to one of her episodes. They help me gain the focus and determination that I need. If you ever get in a rut, try these out:
Episode 15: People Pleasing, Friendships, and Saying “No”
Episode 28: Letting Go of What Other People Think
Episode 41: Perfectionism and the Black Tank Top
Overall, I find that these three woman make me feel like I am having coffee with them or that I am sitting with them through a therapy session. There are plenty of other great topics out there and I highly recommend you go through and see what inspiration is out there for you!
